Description

This piece was done in Painter 8 as a sample book cover. I ended up turning it into my business card.
Yeah, I had Ghost in the shell on the brain.

I think the lens flare takes away from the piece tbh, but everything else is amazing!

The whole picture is great, but if you wanted to put the lens flare maybe you should've tried the 105mm prime since it would probably go better with the overall coldness of the piece.

seems like you used some photoshop filters (for the arms ?), and I don't like the photoshop light effect on the top... it would have been better if you painted it yourself...
Anyway, that's a good work :) nice pose and concept.

+7/9

I really like this work but I'm a bit unsure if you'd use the lensflare... in my opinion the lensflare destorys the pic a bit .

If that lens flare is a light coming from the top of the head, it should be reflected in some points of the metal, that way it would make more sense. Aside from that, briliant work.

Thank you for the comments.

LOL Lens or no lens. I struggled with that myself. Well since it's digital, I have both versions.
No photoshop filters were used in painting the pic. The brushed metal effect was a combination of a my own Painter custom brush, layers and the glow brush.

Here is the painting without the flare.

It feels much more real without the flare to me.Nice job on the arms, they seem like you could reach out and feel the cold steel.

Well Mark, I like that version too...
The question is when is it ever a good time to use the lens flare??
I know in the past here there or on any site you use the flare people freak out, looks like you lost an extra point here and there from people and this is too bad cause I can see you put alot of work into this.
Over all the post kicks ass...
Maybe you were just thinking with that space that is above her head you needed to fill it in, not sure what you were feeling...or a light from the electric parts in her head.
I my self, after looking at it a few times. Thinks if it were me making this post I would have put on some sort of headpiece or something, made it go on drifting away towards the way back as if the female robot is being controlled by something larger ;)
OK coffee is kicking in...
Sorry for all this doo hicky I said here
I just feel bad :(
You did do a very good job on your post and I should have just said that :)

Impressive. I really like how you did the shaved metal. It looks quite real to me.
This would indeed do excellent as a book cover...

I also fully agree that it looks far better without the lensflare. It created a distraction from the overal depth of the image.. which i just find to be superb. Excelent concept and excelent realisation.

Top marks... to the un-flared one, of course ;)

kittyKat--
Yes you are right. Since I designed it as a book cover, the space at the top had to be left open for type. That open space bugged the hell out of me, so I ended up trying to fill it with the flare.
Ah well...

I'll use the non-flared one.
Thank you for the comments everyone.
